Yep. I've heard of all of the above. And as of this morning, Shoe Pavilion. I'm starting to freak out.

Mervyn's is locally based for me and that one hits really hard. Their kid clothes are the best. Before they decided to call it quits for good, they decided to close a few stores here and there, mine being one of them. The sales thus far have not been that great. And it's huge dump in there so trying to find anything in the right size is near impossible.

And don't forget that Circuit City is closing 150 stores and doing some massive layoffs.

And Levitz and Sharper Image are gone recently. I wonder if the warranty on my furniture died with the company?

I guess we will all be forced to buy everything we need at Wal Mart soon.

a friend of mine got a HUGE job off from mervyns as a buyer about 2 years ago. they worked her like a slave, even though she told them she was leaving her current job because she was working to many hours. they started having staff meetings on saturday's and she said "i told you i'm not working saturdays" so she would get stuck with all the trips no one wanted to go on as she was not there to object; more time away from family. it went on and on. she lasted about a year before she quit in a big blow out with her douche boss who told her she was going to be sorry. immediately she sold the stock. the first thing i thought of when i heard this news was how her douche boss is the one who's sorry; stock value of zero! everyone i know who works for mervyn's or longs (both bay area companys) is treated poorly.

Wow really? That sucks. At least she got the hell out of there and sold her stock. Who's laughing now! My cousin worked at Mervyn's for a couple of years and she really liked it. She never complained about being treated poorly but I guess it all depends on the store location or your boss. She was at the concord one.

Mother's cookies are the ones that make the pink and white frosted circus animals! You know Mother's cookies. My favorite ones since I can remember are the chocolate fudge ones. Mmmmm....I'll have to buy one last package.

I hadn't heard about Mervyn's! Ritchie told me about Shoe Pavillion but I didn't believe him. The prospect of all those boots on sale is too much for me to handle with no job!!!

Oh! duh! I've had those icing animal cookies hundreds of times. YUM! I like the plain ones on my regular non pms days!

Wait, what? Shoe Pavilion? Are they still having a clearance? With the whole having to find a job thing (more on that later- not laid off yet, but they're chopping heads like motherhumpers) I need cheap clothes. I've been getting away with business casual in a business formal location for 4 years, I don't think I'll be that lucky twice.

Yuppers. Shoe Pavilion. They announced it yesterday so you have time. I'll have to hit it up one day really soon too. I need flats for my new job. The girls think I'm crazy for wearing heels.

Yeah, they just announced Shoe Pavillion yesterday. It'll probably be at least a few days before the prices start to get reeeeaaaaallly low.

I have to go to Kohl's tonight to shop for my upcoming trip. We don't have a Mervyn's.

I went to Linens N Things yesterday and bought towels, hand towels, and wash cloths, picture frames, and wine glasses.

I went to Linens N Things and Shoe Pavillion today. SP was a friggin madhouse, but LNT wasn't cheap enough to be yet. There was one around the corner from us that shut down a few months ago and at first things were only 10 or 20% off, but then we went back a few weeks later and it was all 70% off and everything was almost all gone! You just have to catch it at the right time.

I hit our Linens N Things on whatever day it was they were saying the prices were going to really drop, and it was pretty lame. It was a madhouse and the shelves were only half full, but everything seemed like it was marked up before they put it on clearance. Shoes will happen tomorrow. Fo shizzle.

That's what happened to me at Mervyn's Sticky. Lame fo sho!

I actually thought Mervyn's went out of business years ago! This is news to me.
